alright, i put my new motor in my 91 z28, and i go to drive it, its stuck in 1st. what could it be?? its a 700 r4. could it be a kickdown or what???? help please.

 

kickdown cable or adjust,ment would be the first to check

 

yep, i did that and that was the prob. it now shifts. thanks

 

I know you fixed it, but another possible cause for that problem is a broken governor (has plastic gears that shear off, and will not allow shifts). Also, on a 700R4, it's a TV cable (throttle valve = TV) that modulates the line pressure in the transmission (no real 'kickdown' cable on it).

 

That happened to me with the govenor plastic gear. Drove home in first with 3.73's was no fun!
