Tranny Life

Hey guys.....well my car has 147 mi on it....and I'm always fearing the tranny blowin. What can I do to prolong the life of it? Thanks a lot

well at that mileage I would leave it.You can consider doing a trans service,but I would let go then do a rebuild.

The 700R4 can last the lifetime of the car with a stock or almost stock engine. That is unless you are abusing it or acting dumb in the way you drive.

You may want to just let it go rather than service it. If you tranny is in the deterioration stage then fresh tranny fluid will only speed the breakdown as tranny fluid naturally acts as a detergent...even just dropping the pan and checking the magnet for shavings or whatever will stir up your tranny and will generally be worse than if you just left well enough alone.

To the best of my knowledge adding any of the stop leak type (or similar) additives will soften seals and such (as intended to stop leak) but the additive will continue to work over time eventually speeding deterioration of said parts.
