tranny grind

hey, i have an 84 Z28 5 spd, 305 and when i put it in reverse it grinds alot. So when i put it into gear i have to shift it in really hard so it dosent grind as much. The weird thing is, it only does this when the car is warmed up and running for a while, when i come home at night and run the car the next morning it barely grinds at all, just after a long drive it grinds. Also when i downshift from 5th to 4th i get a small grind. does anyone know if theres a fix or why it only does this when the cars been running for a while. Also my clutch and brake pedals feel "loose". By loose i mean i can move them from side to side. For instance sometimes when i press the clutch it dosent go down to the floor all the way, it feels like it hits someting on the side of it, when this happens all i gotta do is slide my foot to the left a little bit and that allowes it to go down another inch or so. Is there a way to tighten the 2 pedals so they dont move left and right? thanks for all the help.

the whole cluthch pedal being loose could be you whole problem if thats loose, when you go to push it in you may not be pushing it in all the way and that's why the gears are grinding!

my tranny does the EXACT same thing when goin into reverse. it happens all the time though. how many miles are on your tranny? im thinkin somethin is gettin worn out? but it bothers the crap out of me. and it happens even when the clutch is ALL the way down.
