Tranny compatibility question

I have a 700R4 in my 84 Z right now. I will probably be getting a 91RS that has a shot tranny. I can swap the tranny in my 84Z into the 91 RS without any problems right?

Both are 700R4's? I am 99% sure they'll interchange.

Speedometer: In 1990, Camaros got a VSS equiped electical speedometer. 1984 still had mechanical. I don't know what you'd do about that. I geuss you could just put a VSS sender in the '84 tranny.

Im pretty sure its a 700R4, unless the guy swaped it out for something else.

The 91 is complete, it just does not have the tranny. So I dont have to worry about the speedometer right

The 91 will have an electronic sender for speedometer hook up. And, as I remember, they changed to a 4000 pulse per mile sender in 1989 or 1990 (check me on that). So, you may need a sender. The input shaft changed at 1984 1/2 from 27 to 30 splines for the torque convertor, but, if you use your converter, it will all fit.

Ok, any idea how much a sender will cost? I will probably use my converter to make the swap as simple as possible. Thanks.

I'm going to say under a hundred because it was years ago when I replaced my VSS
