TPI off for motor pull...right?

You can't hook a TPI motor to remove it until you yank the TPI...right? Sure looks that way unless someone knows a method.
Anyone care to take a stab?

Would there be more than one bolt provision for lifting on my GM crate 350? (HO 350/300hp)

Thanks for any help here.

I did it. Didn't even think about taking the intake off. I had the runners/plenum on still. Here are a few pics

NOTE: We put a bolt in each head and hooked the chain to them. One in the front, one in the back, on opposing sides.

Pulling the motor forward enough to get on back head bolt:

Heh. Wonder why Jason? Have you gotten ahold of a longblock to mount that sucker on? I can't wait to see this 1964 TPI Equipped Jeep

Makes me want to reassemble my whole engine outside the car. Its already pulled anyways. Just waiting for the flywheel and 105lb springs.

Corey....I picked up an 010 casting 4-bolt main 350 for $300. It's a complete engine and I watched it run before we snatched it out of the '76 truck it came in. It's got 081 heads on it though, so I may pick up a set of Iron Eagles or something to get a little more torque out of it. It's getting a '95 LT1 cam (the one with the 117* LSA) and probably a set of longtubes. Either way it's gonna be this winter/next spring before I get the swap done....money is a bit tight right now since I'm saving for a wedding ring and a honeymoon and such things.

And to keep it on topic: I have every intention of building the engine on a stand and dropping it into the Jeep with the TPI setup already on. I'm thinking of even trying to find a cheap radiator and a spare battery and running it on the stand before I drop it in.

Sounds cool.

Mines going in an '85-ish Blazer. (full size 4x4) The TPI low end grunt would be perfectly suited for a truck/suv. I'm going to do the Scoggin Dickey manifold for TPI/w Vortec heads along with the new Vortecs' while it's on the stand. Maybe a little home porting on my plenum and a switch from 24 to 36 pound injectors. That matched with my Accel Street Ram, 212-222 cam and 55 pounds or so of fuel pressure should make around 370hp and 420lbs of torque. Woohooo!

Sounds like a plan.

I thought about going for the Vortecs, but I don't want to spend the money on those and the intake base when I'm really not building a performance engine anyway. I just want a good, reliable 350 with plenty of torque to climb really funky hills and the occasional tree. After all, isn't that what Jeeps are for?

I always thought TPI would make a GREAT truck motor, so now I'm going to find out. Plus it won't flood on steep inclines like my 2-barrel Weber does.

Your motor should have a hook at the back on the driver side. On the front you can hook it onto one of the accesory brackets.

Or if you want a realy secure method just get some strong bolts and put it right into the heads. Make sure the bolt goes in as far as possible so you dont damage the threads. This is how I installed my new motor... no problems!
