TPI or LT1 for 67 Camaro?

So here's a question for all you guys. I have a complete '90 TPI speed density EFI setup laying around the garage that I have been thinking about putting in my car. But now I am having second thoughts. While the TPI has a good look and great torque it also is kinda limited if I ever wanted more power, especially at higher RPMs. I was thinking about buying a LT1 Intake that is converted for use with a Gen I smallblock 350 instead. I would loose some torque and spend about 400 bucks more, but I would also gain alot more upside performance potential. Any thoughts? Any mods for TPI's that would give me a little more high end power? Any other good EFI setups that won't break the bank? Looking for around 300 hp and 20 mpg with good low end torque.

If Your goal is 300 hp, good torque, 20 mpg, and You already have the complete TPI setup..... I'd say go with it! You could easily get 325-375 hp and some insane low end torque with a TPI setup. You don't need such low gears to accelerate quickly with TPI. I'd say 3.42's tops! That will definitely help out with gas mileage. You could always do some grinding on the plenum, runners, and lower intake base to open it up a bit.

300 HP at the wheels is fairly easy even for a stock TPI intake. I managed to make 282 RWHP with a zz4 cam and Corvette L98 heads. You could also use a Holley Stealth Ram, but its $400+ too.

A little grinding and port-matching on that TPI intake, along with a roller camshaft, and you'll do it.

I vote neither! Sell whatever you have and get a ls1, drop it in, and be done. TPI is crap and LT1's don't do much better...

TPI isnt crap. He already has the parts and it will do just fine for what he wants.

Why dont you state why TPI is not crap instead of just blurting it out?

TPI is not crap because it yields good idle, has great around-town torque, is very tunable, and is really nice for pretty much everything except drag racing. Plus like Kevin said, in this case it's FREE because Check6 already has it laying in his garage!

FREE has a lot of merit these days.

If Check 6 were me, I'd be putting the TPI in, then retrofitting a 6-speed manual into that car. I saw a TPI equipped 6-speed camaro get 31 MPG this summer on the highway, and there's something to be said for that.
