i've got a 305tpi motor. when it starts up it idles at 1500 and once warm hits 1100-1200. this is a bit too high obviously and causes the trans to punch when shifting into gear which i don't want. what would you check to drop it back down? i've check a few of the standard things but i'm worried that maybe someone had a tune done on the car so before i go any further i'd like to see what others think.

 

Can think of much, throttle linkage adjusted and not sticking, vacuum leaks, TB throttle hard stop not adjusted to far, throttle/plates not sticking. Do you have a TPS?

 

Or blown TB gasket.

 

yes i have a tps. tb gasket is new. vacuum is good pressure. cable isn't sticking, i did adjust it a bit to get it where it's at. it was higher.

Your TPS may not be adjustable since you have a '91, but the IAC portion should work. Good luck!
