TPI Combo Q

This summers' car is done. So Im thinkin about next years aready. The LB9 in my Trans Am will be getting replaced. Im just gonna rebearing my 350 and put in some forged pistons with compression in the 9's.

How would my set of TFS Kenny Duttweiler Heads do with a 214/222 520/542 cam, and speed density TPI??

Re: TPI Combo Q

Ditch the TPI intake if you want to take full advantage of a heads and cam swap.

That can always be done later down the road. The average guy cant afford everything at once. Gotta make do with what I got. Which is an LB9 Trans Am, and a 350 with TFS heads

Re: TPI Combo Q

It depends on which way you go Converting an LT1 intake is the cheapest route, HSR conversion is about 525$, and the Miniram and SuperRam will both be over 1000$.

Re: TPI Combo Q

I know all about the benfits of upgrading from TPI, but, at first, I will be using TPI with some aftermarket runners I can find on Ebay.

Why spend money on the cheap route when I can save up for the good parts and still have a car thats runs fine with the stock TPI?

All I wanted to know about was the heads I have and the cam Im thinking about, and how they would work with the Tuned Port Injection.

Re: TPI Combo Q

Ok man, I'm sorry. It's just that I see people with huge cams like 230/236 duration and good heads and they only make like 330rwhp because the stock TPI is holding them back from going over 5500rpms.

Re: TPI Combo Q

Thats why Im looking at a cam peaking at 5500, which is doable for TPI. Sure better induction system means more power, better anything does. Dosent mean the lesser version is going to blow up. I care about torque, not HP.

So are the parts I picked out a good setup? Think it can make 450 torque?

Re: TPI Combo Q

Yeah, you can see 450 torque pretty easy with a strong mid-range cam like that and the TPI intake, especially if those TFS heads are 180cc instead of 195cc.
