torque converter stall speed
torque converter stall speed
i am in the process of building a trans for my car. how would i go about determining the proper stall speed that will work the best for my car? the mods ive done to my car are in the sig, and i also have 3.73 ring and pinon gear that i have to install. my trans will have corvette servos, shift kit, and borg warner clutches. can anyone recommend a torque converter for me (brand, stall speed, etc)?
You haven't really got enough mods to need a high stall converter. Your car is almost stock. If I were you I'd use a stock converter from an 85 TPI f-body. They had a higher stall speed than later years, and should work well with your car.
My car is similiar to yours, except I have 3.42's
that work well with the 305. Go with the higher
stall speed converter over keeping the stock one, mine flashes around 2300-2500 RPM's. The first time I drove my car with the new converter...WOW!!Talk about seat of the pants feel! This is one of the most overlooked mods you can do to your car. My local trans shop put in all borg-warner parts.

What do you guys think about these torque converters as far as quality. They are really inexpensive, so will i be getting what i pay for?

go with the 2100 rpm one. will do wonders for the car. used that exact one for 2 years. i have gotten 1.76 60ft with 225/60-15 tires and n2o. get 1.8 on motor.
just put one in a friends 83 crossfire. has lots better acceleration. going to track tomorrow night to see what happens. i'm going to test my new YANK SS3300 converter i got through www.vincihighperformance.com
