torque converter
torque converter
I'm about to pick up a torque converter out of a 87 corvette for extremely cheap. How much higher does that stall than the one they used for my 305? Is it worth the work?

OK, so it has the same stall. But I'm throwing in a beefed up L98, would the vette converter handle more power than my stock one?

I think the only diff is 100-200 rpm, i put one in a 88 IROC, that is all it seemed like, if you get a convertor, get a good aftermarket one, the only time i would get one is if i had a trans for a totally stock car rebuilt(i.e., the 88), then it is the same price as the stock replacement
O yeah, I forgot to mention that my motor will already be out of my car. And also, I'm actually getting the converter for free. So even if it gives me another 200 rpms, I'm thinking I might just throw it in.
Now would be a good time to install a New Torque Converter (about a 2400 stall) and for forget about the so called Corvette free one. Cheaper and easier now, SLP has a 2400 stall one at a good price.
