Post Timing Chain or ?

Hey folks I just had my wifes 92 RS 3.1L towed to the house she told me it was fine until he started to leave a light in first when it rumbled and misfired and sounded like it backfired. she got it off the road and it was running real rough. then it just wuit running. I checked the usual spark seems ok. But no fire with fuel or ether starting fluid sprayed directly into the manifold. what next could it be the timing chain, I would think you might get some kind of fire with the ether. let me knwo what ya think.

If you popped the timing chain you wouldn't get any spark since the distributor wouldn't be turning. However, it mighta jumped a tooth or two. Pull a couple easy-access plugs and check compression. If it's jumped a tooth or two it will either have low compression (from late intake valve closing) or none (from valves that have hit the pistons and bent).

Is it a healthy spark? When I bought my 89 Formula it wasn't running (it had been a couple of days before), so I figured ignition or fuel. Towed it home, pressure good and it had a spark so??? Spark didn't look quite right, so I pulled module and coil and took them to Autozone and had them checked on their tester. Module bad, 35 bucks and I was cruising that night.
