Those with rack and pinions in 3rd gens...

can I get some pics, measurements, or geometry?

I have a tubular k member and I want to convert to a rack. I need all the help I can get.

Thanks, Mike.

I have been looking for those same answers. I have found a tubular k-member that offers a rack and pinion option, but there aren't any pictures installed. Here is that site!!! www.paracing.com

Re: Those with rack and pinions in 3rd gens...

i want to put a manual rack in my 3rd gen as well but i'm not very fond of paracing

i got alot of suspnsion components from them and the order got messed up, i feel they over charged me for somethings, some of the parts didnt fit without major modification, for example the bolt kit they supplied for their parts, didnt fit the holes, i had to drill them out, wtf??, anyway
long story short, i wasnt happy

i would like to find a way to put in a manual rack in my 3rd gen to reduce the stress on the front frame rails, free up some hp, and still maintain the proper toe out on turns but i have yet to find a set up i like

ya check out the vendor/product review boards at www.thirdgen.org/techbb2 before you get anything from paracing

I got a kmember from them and my control arms wouldn't fit without modification. I had to cut a lot and move around a lot of metal to clear the kmember. And I only bought it from them because they said stock lcas would fit.

Was just looking around today for installing a power rack. So far found this K memeber with the option of a 4th gen rack.

i've never seen the 4th gen rack and pinion before, it looks a bit unusual to me,

do the 4th gens have any bump steer problems?
or better yet, would a 3rd gen have any bump steer problems using this rack
and can u get it without power assist?

That isn't a 4th gen unit. I bought a 4th gen rack and it looks nothing like that.

I am not sure if anyone makes a 4th gen rack w/o power.

Thanks for the pics.

So is a 4th gen rack the best thing to use for a 3rd gen conversion. Because, I can get these racks for next to nothing.

I don't know. I just figured that a 4th gen rack would be closest to what would be best in a 3rd gen. I will probably go ahead and just do it deal with what problems I run into at the time. The only thing I am worried about is getting the angles right to avoid bump steer.

I would suggest getting the bumpsteer tie rods. This should save a lot of headaches. I want to see pictures when you are done. I'm gonna get a hold of my buddy to get a used rack for myself.
