thinking of getting a 3rd gen
hello guys and girls...
i'm thinking of getting a 3rd gen in about 6 months...i get my permit tomorrow
**happy birthday ian**
thank you...
anywho...
my mom said if i got good grades (which is unlikely but NOT impossible) that i'd get a car. My sister got a 97 grand am gt. but shes off to college. its still her car though, and i'm gonna need one to get back and forth to work.
how much do you think i could get one for? i'll probably have about 6500 to spend. can i get a decent one for that much? i intend on learning how to drive a standard (manual) tranny. i want a 90-92 z28(prefferably a 92). if i cant get a good one for that then i'll get an older one. i heard i can only get a 305 in a standard for those years. is that true?
oh...and just to **** you off, my backup car is a 90-93 rustang gt.

Around here you would get a sweet 3rd gen for that kind of money. For any year 3rd gen it was only th 305 if you want a manual. BTW, the mustang does NOT **** me off a bit.

In the Atlanta area $6500 would get a super clean Trans Am as well. A 2nd gen would be trickier. But you live in the People's Republic of Massachussetts. Ted Kennedy wouldn't like this one bit.

Hey.....i picked my car up this past December for $5,500. It had 55,000 original miles on it and looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Now it has 61,000 miles on it w/ tinted windows, flowmaster 80 series, and looks even better than it did.

That sounds great man, but coming from another 16 yr old with a 3rd gen, a 305 is more than enough to satisfy your needs. Although I was humbled by driving an 82 S-10 POS for a year, I think it helped me gain some self control. It's fun to go fast, but it isnt so great to die, keep that in mind. (by the way, you can get a 350 in a 3rd gen, but dont count out the 305.)

Oh and here is what I found for $3,500. http://hometown.aol.com/rage502/myhomepage/profile.html
How you ask? I found it under a car cover with 3 flat tires, and he parked it becuase he thought he needed a rebuild. But I knew it was just a bad case of blow-by.

Hey, I'am from Central Mass just right outside of Worcester. I'll keep my eyes open for some third gens, and for 6500, you got a lot of options, I'm sure you'll find a nice clean one for that much, but if i see anything ill definatly let you know!

i could do that too, if i could find a decent one for a decent price. i will have my sisters car in case it falls apart, and for the winter. i just need a car for the summer basically

For 6500 you should be able to find a nice 3rd gen. Possibly a 4thgen 93-95 car if u look around.

hey man I'm originally from wakefield, ma what part of middlesex county you from? When I was looking for my Z I checked out the wantd ads and found a TON of them for reaosnbly cheap, and w/ 6500 you have so much more to choose from. You won't get a 350 w/ a standard trannie(at least not stock), sorry they just aren't available (lets not get into this discussion again
)So check out the want ads and go look at a bunch before you jump on one. Good luck

You could probably get a 350 for around 4 grand (i got mine with 63k miles, great condition for $4400, all it really needed was tires and an alternator)(oh, and some paint, but what van nuys car doesn't need a paint job?), and then swap in a 5 speed, if you really want one. The right car is out there, you just have to find it...

Dude here is the car for you. He is a friend of mine and this car is better than new. He is only asking $5,500.00. It is a Formula 350 with the ram air hood, built 350 auto LT1 intake, heads ported, headers ect making 273 rwhp. This car needs nothing. I know this car very well check it out at comcast.net/rrabine2/main/rcr3.htm You don't want to let this one get away. If I didn't alredy have 2 fbodys I would buy it. I can't understand why he is letting it go so cheap. It will out run a stock LT1 and keep up with some LS1.
Or you can go to the Michigan board and see post there. Again you are not going to find a car this nice with the mods for this price. I just did a TTT on the Mich board so it will be easy to find. Posted by RCR selling third gen on Mich board
