Thinking about getting a 3rd gen
Thinking about getting a 3rd gen
Hey guys, first post here. Wanting to pick up a 3rd gen camaro. I currently drive a 97 tbird..yeah i know ford...lol Well, I'm getting tired of the underpowered 3.8L I got, so I'm wanting to pick up a 83-85ish Camaro w/ 305 and 5 speed. Is there anything that I should be aware of before i start looking to purchase one? The bluebook value (kbb.com) states they they are valued around 700ish dollars, is this serious? that sounds kinda low, but hey, not a problem for me. Besides the expected rust and high mileage of older cars, are there any specific problems i need to look for? camaro noob here, so Help a future owner out.

305 u mean right? 302 i thought was ford.
they are just like any other used car, possible rust in some locations. under floorpans, maybe trunk area, and also around front strut towers.
since they are unibody cars, people try to cheaply fix them from previous accidents and like to half a** things like radiator supports, bumper supports, and stuff like that; so definitely check for any signs of impacts. used parts are easily found and cheap so thats a plus, unless you are going for a mint showcar piece.
thirdgens that are old and beat dont go for much at all these days, thats why they make great projects.
