Tell me if this TV Cable is broken or if it sounds like Im doing something wrong?

Im so sick of that stupid *** cable. I think Im just gonna put a TH-400 in so I odnt have to deal with it.

I push down the little tab and slide the black peice all the way back. Then I release the tab get into the Z and push the pedal all the way to the floor with the mats taken out. I heard its supposed to click a few times and the black peice will come back out to the proper length for the set up.

Well the clicks dont occur and the black thing just stays all the way in. Does that sound like its broken?

I thought maybe I could just adjust it manually for the time being. When I hit the gas where its at right now it feels like a have a high stall convertor. Does that sound like its too far away from the throttle or too close? If I knew which direction it needed to go I could just adjust it by hand trial and error style.

I definately don't like the TV cable either man. I have the Lokar TV and throttle cables and I THINK I have the TV cable as good as I can get it. I manually shift the car 100% now however since OD and D shift WAAAAY to early and slow. Manually it's fine though but I'm sure it's not the best thing to do with a stock trans. I actually slipped the trans when I first tried it on the street with the carb/new tv cable setup but now it's holding the 150 shot perfectly.... Goodluck!

TV Cable

Mine did the same thing when i went to adjust it. The tranny slipped or didnt move at all. I couldn't get it right, then the tranny packed it in. I was quite tired of this too and put in a turbo 350 instead. No more TV cable. Yeah.

Buy a B&M adapter or a Spohn torque arm and install a better tranny and you'll get better results out of your car anyway.

I thought that the TH-350s had a tv cable too. I thik I read that 73 and later ones did while the earlier ones didnt. I was going to go with a TH-400 because none of them have cables to my knowledge

tranny

nope they use a downshift cable on the throttle, much easier. Really easy to setup, and a much stronger tranny. Its also cheaper to get stall converters and parts for.

The pedal is supposed to be floored when you adjust it. So have someone floor it and then yank the cable back.

That just might e crazy enough to work You mean have someone hold the pedal on the floor then I take the cable and slide it back as far as I can?

you can just pull the throttle back at the throttle body, in my old z28 the cable was stretched so i had to make it a little tighter when i set it. that cable is a PITA!

It would seem I have discovered the long plagueing problem. The Braket that I have the T.V. cable is in is held up by the carb stud. Well today I noticed that that carb stud moved . SO even when I had the braket adjusted corretly the braket would move and it would again not move. It turns out that the hole for the carb stud in the intake is stripped . I dont know what the hell Im gonna do know I really dont have the cash for a new intake.

check the cable where it attaches in the tranny, from what i remember its almost just a slip fit over a linkage in there, its possible it just came off
