The stock engine tack has started to read about 500,RPM high. The engine still runs the same. Is there a sending unit or am I in the market for a new tack. Thanks.

 

my tach read about 500 high since I got the car. sure its not something thats always been there? you dont have to worry about it except for racing, in which case I've got a 5" autometer now connected to the MSD, no worries.

 

How do you know this? My tach started to read high. At 55 mph, it would read 2300 when it usually read 2000. A couple of days later, I had the tranny out and sent to be rebuilt. Are you sure it is out?

 

Yep im pretty sure. Ive got a 5 speed. I drive 65 to 70 mph. It started reading high one day I drove it to work. Engine still sound the same at speed.looks like im in the market for a new tack. Thanks for the replys.

 

You sure the clutch is not slipping or something like that? Have you had an good inductive tach put on to the spark plug wire to verify?
