Tachometer usage
I have an old old tach/dwell meter which I had used when points were used on distributors. Yea, I know POINTS???. Anyway my question is can I still use the tach. feature on later models with high energy ignition. I have a 89 IROC Camaro in which I want to set the idle. Thanks!!!!
Re: Tachometer usage
I dont think so, but i'm not positive.
Tach's cost little enough these days that you're prorbably better off just getting a new one. I have an AutoGage and i paid like 40 bucks for it from summit, and its pretty sweet. Does the job, looks OK, and the price was definatly nice. You can get them for less, or more, depending on what you want it for. If your just looking to set the idle (from what your post says), I'd just go to AutoZone or whatever and see what their cheapest tach is. If you want to use the old tach cause of how it looks or something like that, i guess you could shove the internal stuff from a new tach inside, though that seems like more work than its worth.
