T56 Help!!!!

T56 Help!!!!

I started putting my speed in today and am having some problems with the hydraulics...I cant figure out exactly where to cut the hole for the clutch master cylinder or where to mount the rod to the clutch pedal. Also my starter wont fit in the bell housing. Everthing else is in and hopefully done. And what is the best way to bleed it???

Looks like you like your CC305 and CC306 cams!

I am not sure about the clutch master cylinder, but the rod itself attaches to the pedal onto a small post on the left hand side of the pedal. You will need a $3 GM plastic clip to get the rod to stay on the pedal. If you have an old block that was designed for a 168 tooth flywheel, then you'll need to get a starter for a '83-'85 305 5-speed with 153 tooth flywheels. I hope I helped some. I am thinking about doing a T56 in my third gen. I had a T5 in that car, but broke too many of them, went to th350. However, I just did some more motor work, so I am thinking T56 soon. I love the T56 in my '94, shifts well, does not brake and has 2 OD!!! Good luck.

best way to cut the whole for the slave cyl. is to put in the clutch and brake peddels and trace out the whole. the strater shouldnt be an issue if it's out of a small block for a camaro.

I dont think you can really bleed the master cyl. I think you just fill it up and pump the shaft untill no air bubbles come out.

i had my pedals in while i drilled the screw holes, then i took a paint pen and traced a hole for the middle part of the master cylinder, moved the pedals out of the way and drilled a million tiny holes around the outside of the oval and finally knocked out the center piece with a 1/2 inch ratchet extention and a hammer. its a lengthy process, and the whole time you will be pissed of and cussing, but just stay with it and it will finally be over with after a while. its not going to be fun, trust me.

my automatic starter wouldnt fit in the bellhousing either, i had to get a starter from a 89 305 5-speed car, thats worked perfectly (except for header heat but thats another story). the LT1 starter will work also, but it costs a little more. then the LT4 starter is even better, but it cost more than both of the others.
