Synthetic Oil

I want to start to run my car with synthetic oil, I am going to use a blend once before i switch over. But I am not sure which brand to use. I want to use one that is around $5 a quart. I think Mobil1 and Castrol Syntech are good. Any suggestions?
thanks!!!

So why the hell did you even post? Looking to up your count? I've been running Mobil One in my Z for the last year or so. I've read it's pretty good, but to me oil is oil.

I would drain out the motor by letting it sit overnight with the screw out and changing the filter and replacing the screw before I put in the new stuff. Wouldn't bother with a blend. Just go straight. LPE had me run 30W oil to break it in and this was in the middle of winter. Had to keep it heated in a garage when I got home, drove the hell out of it for 500 miles, changed oil, 500 miles, changed to Mobil 1 but 1000 miles later, I changed again and at 3000 once more just because I am paranoid.

I don't think you will go wrong with either Mobil 1 or Castrol.

I use the Castrol synthetic in my wifes' 2002 T/A, but use regular Castrol in my 87 Z28, 87 Honda M/C, & 88 Bronco.

I've heard of Amsoil & Redline, but the two names you mentioned up top are readily available.

On your 355 TPI, did you rebuild it yourself or have a mechanic do it?

I bought the car with the motor already in it, i talked to the kid i bought it from and he gave me the mechanics name who did the work. I am going over the whole motor to make sure everything is good. I really want to but a holley stealth ram, 58mm TB, 200cc/65cc heads, and 26-30 lbs injectors.
anyway, I think the votes go to Mobil one for me. I also heard amsoil is really good and tha "all the guys at the track use it" but i never see it anywhere and its probably expensive. Mobil one is in the Shoprite by my house.
thanks guys!
