dyno results from HSR swap

this is from only swapping to the HSR. no prom work, nothing. went way lean in the upper rpms due to more volume of air.

Some heads would probably bring that engine to life.

it shows a trade off of the power curve. and with no PROM work. poeple have been asking what gains can be expected from just bolting on a HSR? there is the answer. as i stated there is more to gain once PROM tuning has been done.

now, the reason why i didn't do any PROM work is because this motor is going bye-bye. a 383 with DART PRO 1 aluminum 200cc heads is taking it's place.

What the heck is an HSR?
Looks like great gains though! 10hp and 30ft/lbs. Not bad for one mod.

Holley Stealth Ram

There's prob 30+ more HP hidden in the higher RPMS that tuning would bring out.

It was a 10HP gain up top for a 30ft lb loss at the bottem end. I'm sure some good flowing heads with good PROM work would really be impressive. Can't wait to see the numbers for the 383.

The dyno sheet is appreciated, it's good to see what it does.

That's what I'd expect from adding any HiPo part w/o some support...I'd like to have seen you bump up the fuel pressure as it was heading way lean even at 4,000...
Looks like your previous set-up had a nasty hole in it too, something going on there, 3600-4300ish..
Some tuning would definitely be the first thing I'd do, before adding anything else fix what you have...
Thanx for the info..

the fix to what i have is the 383. this motor has low compression in #3 and #6 80psi to be exact.

Have you squirted oil in the cyl to see if it's the heads or rings??

stuck an air hose to it. hear it going past the rings. it happens when you run way lean and then lean the n2o out trying to hit an 11. www.fl-thirdgen.org/mrr23 is my site.

i would have gone MR... i'd hate to spend mad flow on an intake and get what you got out of it

MR or SR just isn't worth the price for return IMHO. This was just to show what can happen just by swapping intakes without tuning. because lots of people cannot do their own chip tuning. i can. so i could've gotten more out of it. but i'll be swapping in feb '04 so i didn't waste my time.

I'd still do a wet/dry compression/leakdown test...You could still put the 383 in tho...

Nice site...I'm a little behind in the Web/Tech stuff, just got a decent Digital camera & software with our New dELL 4600c...
My wife took HTML in college, I'm taking some lessons from her, maybe soon I can get some pics and maybe a site to post them on...

it's definately the rings. i poured water on the headers to find the dead cylinders. verified i had spark and fuel to those cylinders. so that left compression. the motor doesn't over heat, lose water, or run bad in anyway other than at idle. i put air to the cylinder. turned the motor until the air stopped coming out the exhaust and intake. heard the air coming out the valve cover. so, that would leave either cracked ring or piston. if it was piston, i'm sure it'd be alot worse. i cracked my #8 top ring last time. that's on my engine rebuild page. did the same thing except pour smoke out the tailpipe real bad and use 1 quart a week of oil. it's doing it again. i'm still driving it.

Only at idle, sounds like valve seating leak or head gasket leak...If it was rings you'd have a nice light blue smoke ALL of the time, and have excessive crankcase air pressure...
