Question swapping out my 305TPI for a 383 stroker

I have a 1986 z28 iroc with a 305TPI and i am swapping it out with a 383 stroker. i am puttting the TPI system on the 383. My question is will i need to do anything with the computor or prom to get this to run half way decent? Heres the upgrades i have done so far. I have installed a new holley "in-tank" fuel pump, new adjustable fuel regulator, new 36lb fuel injectors, mallory dist. and mallory "hyfire6" ignition system. Is there any other suggestions anyone may have that has been through this?

Much appreciated!!!

What kind of heads and cam are going on/in this motor? Why do you want to use a TPI intake? Do you know their junk? And yes,you will need computer chip work, more work the more radical the motor.

The TPI intake doesnt flow hardly at all passed 4800-ish RPM's...kinda like running a marathon while holding your hand over your mouth.

You should make it carb'd is your not making it a daily driver, cheaper and it will run alot better.

Pulling the motor isnt to bad. The A.I.R. tubes are a biotch and theres one that goes around the back of the motor thats a PITA. Other than that everything is straight forward.

Even the largest of the TPI systems is not going to give you enough flow for a 383, if you want it's full potenial. You can make it work while your saving for an intake system and other upgrades, but I don't think you'll be happy with the performance.

TPI flows more then enough to support a 383,

its its powerband that is limited,
TPI falls off at 5000rpm cause of the LTR (long tube runner)
but that is why TPI's bottom end torque is far superior to most any other aftermarket intake

My cousin builds performance motors, he did a 383 with a TPI intake,
made 400hp and 450pd.ft of torque all under 5000rpm
peak torque was at 2300rpm

I suppose next your going to tell us this is rwhp and he did it with a stock TPI. I know there are lots of folks that want to know how this was done, I certainly do!! So please list the components, particularly the heads and cam.
Your cousin should be selling engine on E-Bay, he's getting almost as much hp as these guys. http://motors.search.ebay.com/383_Co...Z1QQsofocusZbs

I'll ask him what the combo was, next time I see him,

he doesn't need to sell on ebay, he builds stock car, drag car and high performance marine stuff mostly

Thank you all for your info, I will continue to research your opions. I will need to use the TPI and do what it takes to make it work becuase of my limited funds.

To 89Vert, wow thats no everyday engine shop that your cousin owns.

Can anyone recommend what are the best steps to getting my computer/prom modified to run this setup. Were do i go? Web sites to visit?

Thanks again!!

I burn chips,
personally I don't belive in fill out a sheet mail order chips, but alot of people are happy with them,
IMO, best to have the tuner in the car log it then go over the logs and tune the car
