Suggestions......... ???

i'm currently at a delema with my car....i'm trying to decide wether to keep my AC or not?

i love the option of having AC, but they want around 300 to recharge and fix what's wrong with my system. i honestly maybe use it twice a year. i can get an ac delete box and clean up the engine bay a little and save a whole lot of money on something i don't use. i hate to get rid of it.

what should i do........summers are hot without t-tops.

Try this. Run next summer without it and see what happens. BTW, in winter, you won't have the windshield defrost either.

???

i pretty much ran all last summer without it, the few times it was used i'm not sure i can justify having it rebuilt and recharged.

I had the same dilemma, I finally ditched it because I never used it. I did save all the parts from it so I always have the option of putting it back on later. The system was already empty, after I'd pulled the motor out, so it was cheaper to buy the delete pulley and heater box, than to recharge it. I honestly don't miss it, and I've got SO much room in the engine bay, it's great!

Ever notice how your compressor comes on when you turn on the defroster? I've heard varying opinions as to why this is, #1 that it does it just to make sure the compressor cycles in the wintertime, so it doesnt sit w/o running for months on end. #2 that it takes the moisture out of the air, so it will defrost better.

Who knows, mine still works, somewhat. Of course it never worked that well in the first place.

yeah, i've never used the defroster since i bought it 5 years ago; don't plan on driving the car where i'd need it ever either.

plan to do other things with that switch so i guess it isn't a big concern.

thanks for all the suggestions everyone.

anyone else?
