If youre not a bass freak (that likes to show off to people you dont even know as you drive by them) then you shouldnt have a problem.

Open the hatch when you do it, dont drive with it that high.

1800w through 2 12" Audiobahn's in the back of my fiance's '00 Z and the hatch glass is still intact.

700w isn't enough power to break glass unless you catch some kind of perfect harmonic frequency. And Sony subs aren't clean enough to put out that kind of harmonic anyway.

No, you will be fine. Even at peak RMS your subs will not be able to shatter that glass. I have a 2400 wat amp pushing 2 2400 wat subs which booms really loud. Im looking into getting a bullet proof lexan window cuz it makes me a little nervous.

It is not the power of the sub but whether the sound produced hits the right resonant frequency. If it does, it will shatter the glass.

Well, we did this in science class where you have a sound, not that loud but it can be varied in frequency and when it was at the wrong frequency, the glass did not break. Note, the volume was not all that loud and only the frequency was varied. Once the right frequency was reached, the glass broke.

I believe that is why they don't have soldiers march over a bridge. If they march at just the right timing.......

Your subs will be fine until you hit the right note then it depends if it has the power to break the glass. Power alone will not really break the glass. When the pitch (frequency) of the voice matches the natural frequency of the glass, such large amplitude waves build up in the glass that it shatters. This phenomenon is called resonance. It is what made the original Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapse.

Maybe if the hatch area was a completely sealed compartment it would matter? But since it shares air space with up front, it shouldnt...?

no it wont break ,you wont have enough air pressure with that combination . it took me 4 orion xtreme3 12 dvc's and a orion hcca 250r to break 86 t/a back glass.
