Stored Z 28..Loss of Oil Pressure?
Hey guys, I have had a 1984 Z 5.0 H.O. stored for the last 6 or 7 years, On occasion I will start the vehicle just to get the juices flowing & charge the battery. I usually let the car run for 5-10 minutes each time about 4 times per year. I've changed the oil once per year for each year it has been stored. Here's my problem, yesterday I started the car & let it run after 10 mins or so, my check engine light was on & I have "NO" oil pressure!
The motor does not knock & if I rev the engine a little bit, the oil pressure gauge needle will move up & down. Needless to say, I shut the motor off & here I am!! Any suggestions as to what the problem may be? Thanks!

Re: Stored Z 28..Loss of Oil Pressure?
Bad oil sending units are a very common problem with these cars. Bad gauges aren't exactly uncommon either, but I'm betting on the sender for this one.
If the engine's not noisy then the actual oil pressure is likely fine.

Thanks for all of the input! Once the snow blows outta here I'll check these things out. Hopefully it will be something simple like you all have posted. But..in the event someone has some more suggestions, please list them as well!

you might want to check the OIL PRESSURE SWITCH behind the distributor...i had da same problem . Needle went crazy up and down the just stayed really low but i found out the switch was bad...its easy to change it cost like under 20 bucks now the needle stays right in da middle mine is a 87 z tpi so im not sure if its the same
