87-89 L98's are 9.3:1, while the 90-92 L98's got different pistons, raising the compression to about 9.75:1.
The LB9's are all the same compression, 9.3:1.

 

In the Mitchell, Domestic Car Service and Repair, Engine Performance, Electrical, Engine, Chassis manual for 1991 General Motors Volume 2, it lists the L05 TBI 5.7 (vin code 7) as 9.75:1, 185 HP, 290 LBS torque. The L98 TPI (vin code 8) is listed as 10.25:1, 245 HP, 345 LBS torque.
