SS Hood Air Box
SS Hood Air Box
What are you guys doing as far as air boxes to use the SS HOOD as a CAI??? I am converting from a L03 to L98 w/ TPI (Mostly stock except headers and plenum porting). I see all the cold air kits, but I would much rather use the opening in the hood because well I have one and its there
.
Take a look at this Air Box:

This is for a 93-97 Camaro w/ the SS Hood. THis will fit a 82-92 because we all know if it fits a LT1 throttle body it will fit a L98. Does anyone have any clue how close this will get you to being where it needs to be w/ the ASCD SS Hood on a thirdgen????
Also, what are some other ideas that you all have used to utilize the Opening in the SS Hood?
Let's get out our thinking cap!

Re: SS Hood Air Box
One more question:
Is the goal of these boxes to completely seal around the opening???
OR
Is the goal to just put the air filter up into the "plenum" of the hood (the raised part?
I'm not sure if you want to do your best to seal it to the opening, or if getting the air filter close and up high is the best bet. If it is I see no reason why that box will not work.

Re: SS Hood Air Box
yup 300 bucks a little steep for my likings....homemade is the way to go...i would rig up something so that you just have a short chunk of pipe coming outta the intake, then a flat filter like in the link, i don't know if thats down to far on an ss hood...i'm just opening my ss hood up so my engine can breathe a little bit and get some flow going through there, i'm rigging a dual pipe/dual filter CAI that goes in front of the radiator...
