Sporadic timing?
Sporadic timing?
Man, I just noticed that with the computer controlling the timing, it is wild. I mean, it jumps up and down pretty good, sometimes there is a "blip" and the timing mark goes way advanced and I can't even see it for a quick second. This is with the EST bypass connected. Without the EST bypass connected, it drops down to base idle and stays there pretty good. So is this normal? Would there be a reason why the computer is making the timing all wild? Could this be the cause of my rough and always "searching" idle? Or is the wild timing a result of my rough idle and the computer trying to fix it?? Any help would be appreciated.
Before I learnt how to do the IAC calibration I had the IAC so far out that the ECM was trying to compensate with timing adjustments. Without hte EST connected the timing will be at base timing of 6 deg and with it connected the timing fill fluctuate.
Darn! So I guess that's normal then. I was hoping I had found something. I'm going to be installing WinALDL on my computer and making a cable so I can finally see what the computer is doing to my poor engine...
No, I didn't say that. With my IAC so far out of whack, the ECM compensated by varying the timing to keept eh RPM stable but the RPM still fluctuated and the timing was all over. Now that it is right, the timing still fluctuates but not as badly. Soooo, we don't know how much fluctuation you are having. Some is ok but excessive is not. We don't know what excessive is because we are not looking at your car.
