Speaker Sizes and Sub question

This may not belong in the tech section, but since it is only for 3rd gens, i thought I should post it here.

First, i was wondering what the speaker sizes were if i wanted to replace all the speakers in a 1986 Iroc.

Second, I have 3 12inch Alpine Type R subs, do u think I could fit those in the Rear or not? Pics and install procedures would help.

Thanks guys...

the dash was 4x6's and the rear sail panel thing has 6x9's 3 12s will fit but the box will be tight and you might get a cube for each sub if you do your math right, i have a cage the goes down into the rear well there so it was real tough to get 1.25 cubes for each of my 2 JLs good luck hope i was of some help...

i know they make this cover for your back cubby that will fit 2 twelve inch subs and use the cubby as a box itself, i dont remember where i saw it though. i've also heard of people cutting holes in the hump area right above the axle but im not sure if thats the best spot. if you want to fit all 3 in there you'll find a way to.

To get enough airspace for 3 12s you're going to have to go with a fiberglass box. That way you'll get every last inch of space out of the well, and you can raise the top of the box to pick up the rest of the space you need. I don't have a link handy, but a search in the stereo section of thirdgen.org will give you some great information. There are a couple of guys over there who have 'glassed their own boxes and can give you the basic info and some good tips and tricks.

I had a box w/ 4 10's in my 3rd gen, and it was mdf. There was plenty of air space too. Pics of it here.

I know it didn't look too pretty, but it hit like you wouldn't believe.
