Spare tire

How many of you have an aluminum spare tire like the factory 1LE? My 87 Iroc has one. I have had an 86 Iroc and have 92 rs and neither had one. I have to do more research, but my freind that I bought the car from(second owner), said that the original owner was told that Dale Earnhardt drove the car. It was used as a Pace car for Watkins Glen in 87 when it was new. As told by the dealer. Anyone have pics or know anything more let me know. I know you can't believe everything but I thought it was interesting if true. Doesn't matter either way to me.

Correct, now the 1LE Aluminum wheel was a option and then some cars had them others of the same model didn't.

Anybody have a picture of the 1LE spare? My ROC has the wide inflatable spare and my RS has the skinny one.

Test yours and tell us!

My first one left me high and dry after 5 years. Spent 7 1/2 hrs waiting for somebody to come by and stop (middle of the night),you can NEVER find a cop when you need one.

I ditched my inflator can for a battery powered compressor. Works every time I've needed it.

My 88 Formula had that spare. I ended up trading it for a set of Comp Cams Pro Magnum Rockers.

My friend I traded with needed it more than me since he has Baer Brakes on all 4 corners and the regular spare won't fit.

That is what I did on my 3rd gen after I used the can the first time (it worked great at 7 years old).

The inflator air can is just that, compressed air and as long asit is in good shape it will work. But it is a one shot deal, after being used it requires refilling. It can be refilled at any business dealing in compressed air. I still have my original one in the car with the same spare thats never been on the in ground in 17 yrs.

Well, I guess I'll just put the spare in the front and put the front tire to the back.
