Lightbulb Someone wanna help me choose my next upgrade

I was wondering If I could get some advice on the most bang for my buck out of my next upgrade.

I have a 305 TPI 86' ROC just rebuilt 2 weeks ago. It was built with the folowing upgrades

bore .040 over
Tri Core Radiator
Shaved Heads (.040 Too I believe) 1.98 Valves with 3 angle Valve Job
HIgh Volume Oil Pump
Headers
Highly Modifies 700-R4 with B&M Slapshifter
3 inch exhaust with Flowmaster
3.73 limites Slip Rearend

I was thinking about adjustible Fuel Pressure regulator or a new PROM chip Im puying for college so I cant spend $1000 bucks on a mini Ram or something. I already have a disk Brake 3.55 posi rear but havent put it on yet post any suggestions you can.

I would get the Fuel Pressure Reg. and then It's time to look at the suspension. go to PST and buy their 5 way adjustable KYB Shocks I think their 395 for the set of four. Get a new Torque Arm, (www.spohn.net) 395.00 get new LCA's 175.00 plus LCA brakets 65.00 Let's add this up.. 395*2 = 790.00 plus 175 = 965.00 + 65.00 = 1030.00 Not bad!!! and you will deffinetly notice a difference.. et's will go down, you car will handle and launch better. and you will see overall performance gains across the board..

Just my idea thou..

opss.. Here are some links

www.p-s-t.com
www.spohn.net

and by the way those shocks are adjustable AGX gas shocks made by KYB 5way adjustable and are on sale for 389 not 395 saving $6.00!!! so the end total minus shipping is 1024.. Still not bad if you consider the amount of great performance parts you have added.

I'd replace the intake manifold with something like a Stealth Ram or an LT1 intake(Do a search for the swap info). just my opinion though.

It kind of makes sense to add that after headers, a valve job, and 3.73 gears like you already have. More RPM!!

I forgot maybe my best upgrade A Lunati Cam and hi perfom lifters the specs are like 259/271 degrees of lift and .500/.515 duration but I may be slightly off I dont have the summit book in front of me. I also have TRW Flat Top pistons if that makes much difference.

I like the suspension idea but thats more for like 6 months down the road after I figure out my living costs for college hers what I was thinking of now.

A Petronix Flamthrower Kit for my Distributor
Adjustible Fuel Regulator
Prom Chip
Anything else you guys can come up with

What do roller rockers have to do with taking the engine apart? You can get to them with the valve covers off.

I realized that a while ago and now I feel stupid. For some reason I was thiking I had to take my whole intake system off but O well. Would roller rockers give a noticable improvement I dont know alot about them.

If you're really packing .500" lift then rockers would be a big fat waste. You already have wayyyy more cam than the intake can support.

I would skip the AFPR, just shim the stocker (use a quarter in the stock FPR) to up the PSI slightly. Then buy a dremel and some bits and port the TPI plenum, runners and base. Or at least hog out the plenum if you don't want to remove the rest. Definite improvements to be had.

I'd be real damn tempted to spend the $450ish and get a stealthram and try it out though...

If you get a chip, get a custom chip for your setup, not some off the shelf POS.

I got my KYB's for a little over $130 from Summit Racing. That's the price for all 4.

Spend your money on chip tuning software, and any other prts that are worn or needing attention.

Good luck with your ride.

I hope you have some kind of high flow air filter(ie. K&N) at least.

The best bang for the buck is always Nitrous.
You can buy a nice kit for 350 to 500 and cheaper if you go used.

I dont have any specific set amount to spend I was just saying dont post anything like buy a weiland Supercharger or something I like the stealth ram idea and $450 doesnt sound too bad if thats what it is it will just take me a little longer to get that. Id appreciate it if somseone posted a link so I could to a little research into it. Ill also look into porting the plenum. If I bought a TB could my set up handle the 58mm or should I stick with 52mm.

Also a little off subject but since the rebuild Ive had trouble keeping it cool even with the big tri core out of like a 69' Z28. I had the Radiator gone over before I put it back in and bought a new water pump (although its only stock replacement). I have a feeling the stock fan just isnt etting the job done I took it off the relay so it suns as long as the car is on bit it still runs over 220 more than id like with a 180 thermostat. Do you think a Summit twin fan set up would help or maybe a hi flow water pump?

Get a Stewart hi-flow pump and I'll bet you'll be set. I snagged a stage1 pump for both my cars, drastic differences (I also had new radiator, new hoses, fans on all the time etc and still ran hot with stock replacements). $69 bux will get you the stage1. www.stewartcomponents.com

For Stealthram info go to thirdgen.org's message board into the TPI section and there is a sticky post at the top with all the info on it. Thunderracing, which is linked off the top of thirdgen.org sells it, for around $450 complete.
