Angry Someone talk some sense into me before I put a match in my gas tank.

I baby my car. Change the oil every 1500 miles put 93 octane gas in it drive 65mph on the interstate and I only race it when its a good situation. The engines only got 1200 miles on it since my rebuild for Gods sake. The only mechanical peice not brand new is the alternator.

And what do I get in return, having to listen to s*** from my friends all the time becasue my car spends as much time in my garage as it does on the road.

ITS ALL THE TRANSMISSIONS FAULT.
Today I just changed the fuel pump and apparently the cars been fuel starved forever becasue when I test drove it I swear I have at least 50 more ft/lbs of low end tourqe, and at this point Im thinking maybe I can pull of high 12s or low 13s with an upgraded prom. But I only got to taste the power of my perfectly running IROC. For not 15 minutes into nirvana my 700R4 decides its gonna stick in 1st gear. I took it to my uncle who is my resident mechanic. He got in and it shifted like a dream. So I went home everything being peachy just thinking it was a freak occurence. I eat and leave for USF, I was sadly mistaken. The same thing happens it sticks in first at about 19 out of every 20 times I come to a complete stop. I think maybe the governor went bad becasue its not like the other 4 times the hunk of junk has gone out in the last year at actually moves. Just not very fast and at like 7000 RPM with my 3.73 gears. I dont know what to do anymore I dont have the cash to buy a new TH400 and Im tired of being scared everytime I want to get into it that my Trannys gonna blow leaving me without a car for 2 weeks and with a huge dent in my pocket.

Ive never been so let down before; how can something I put so much time, money and heart into treat me so badly.

Not to worry... the governor doesn't control 1-2 shifts. A valve int he valvebody is most likely sticking.

Heres what you do to un-stick it.

Go out for a drive. When the trans tries to stick in 1st start pumping the gas pedal rapidly. It will unstick it. Now to keep it from happening again you will have to get a wax based additive. Most transmission shops use this when doing overhauls to avoid come backs. You will have to shop around, but the best place to look is at your local trans shop. Ask them what they use and if you could buy a bottle.

There is definitely no internal problems in that 700r4.

I wish I were as confident as you that there were no internal problems with it. A friend of mine that does trannys for a living said it was either the governor or the linkage may have come loose. Its kinda odd Im not sure if it sticks in 1st or 2nd. When it sticks I can put it all the way down on the shifter and it will go to a lower gear. But I also know that I have done 65mph in 2nd at the track and theres no way Im doing that in the gear that its in now. A regular shop wouldnt sell the additive like Auto Zone or something? I will look into getting that additive. Its almost more embarrasig than anything. Going down the street at 25mph at 6500 rpm flowmaster screaming so people come and look out thee windows and you cant miss my bright yellow car.

Dont worry Mike you dont have to protect your investment Im still buying your prom even if I have to replace the tranny
