some question about my gear experiences

drove my car home tonight on the highway, didnt mash the gas but put her half way down much faster i think, i went to a point where 3rd and forth where switching rapidly if i didnt move my foot once i pushed it in further it shifted into 4th, if i let off went to 3rd, she chirps every damn gear know except 4th, whatttttt a difference. not much juice on the highway, but thats ok, couldnt even chirp second with my 2,73

Most 700R4 tranmissions will not stay in 4th gear when the throttle is floored (actually, it is closer to 1/2 or 2/3rds throttle). It will kick back down to 3rd gear. The Corvette transmissions (and the 350 Camaro/GTA/etc, as far as I know. The 700R4 I got from a 350 car as a core did shift to 4th wide open, so I know that at least a few did) would shift into 4th gear when "wide open". Too much gear will limit your top speed since you can't use 4th as an actual gear for acceleration. B&M makes a "kit" (it is a sleeve for the throttle valve assembly inside the transmission) that changes the forced downshift to about 75-80% throttle. I used that kit, it is a slight improvement, but I didn't think it was worth the cost/hassle for the slight improvement (my opinion). That is probably why you hit the point where it was switching between 3rd and 4th.

Have fun!

Have it rebuilt to shift when you want and how hard you want. Then followed by a performance engine.

I believe that will require a different valve body. I've not seen a kit to allow you to upgrade to a setup that will shift into 4th at wide open. I had considered trying to buy the 4th gear valvetrain parts for the valve body of a corvette/350 F-body at one time, but never persued it. The B&M kit is the only "kit" that I am aware of (there may be others) that makes an attempt (and not a very good one) to correct this.

My thoughts.

she acts wierd like unless i floor with shift in and out of every gear if i just push it halfway down. but once you give her gas shes fine, i think i have to study her more cause im not even sure what gear im in when i drive, mutch quicker but runs out of steam quicker to, headers on order
