So now that I plan on keeping my 86 Z....

I was going to sell my 86 Z, but the car I was going to buy didn't turn out to be much better.....so rather than selling it, I'm going to build it up a little more to make it a very reliable/faster car.

Right now it has an L98 350 from an 86 Vette with a 700R with a mild shift kit. I'm pretty satisfied with it right now, cause it is fast as hell and keeps breaking tranny mounts from the incredible torque. I just wanna know some easy and cheap ways I can make it a little faster. The only performance-wise things done right now are a 180 stat, and Accel ignition wires.

I also want to get rid of the A/C and cruise control because neither of them work. Can I just pull out all the Cruise stuff without anything happening to the car?

What about the A/C? Where can I get a delete bracket for the pulley and what do I do about the heater box?

Also, how can I get the t-tops to stop leaking? My whole interior is basically ruined and my pass side floor is rotted. If I get new weatherstrip will it work? I was thinking about just getting some caulk or silicone and running it in between where the weather strip meets the car.

Any ideas are welcome.

Man I wish I had an L98 in my 86. Thats what im shooting for this year. Was it an easy swap???

Anyways, about the leaks, new weather strip is a must. mine tend to leak a lil, more at freeway speeds when the wind is up. But just the other day Inoticed that my rear seat was wet. I plan on doing new WS after I paint the car, At the same time I am gonna seal the roof off. There are lots of little openings up there under the headliner, and I am gonna seal them all and put some dynamat up there to kill the wind noise.

Good luck with the build up man, I opted to keep my Z too. was gonna sell it, but i would rather mod it.....
