Exclamation Similar to the Gov. of New Jersey, I have an annoucment to make.

Gentleman..........................I have a 305. Yes I do! There I said it. I know there are more of you out there that are hiding it as well. I ask you all to admit it like I have done and come together! I have made this admition in a request for help. I NEED HP! I live in a tight *** emissions state, have a 4bbl Q-jet, and my car is all stock. I want to keep it carb and keep the 305 in. What are your suggestions on how to proceed from here?

It is time for 305 ers' to stand up and be respected!

(i'm not gay by the way. married with 2 kids. ......not that there is anything wrong with that.) lol

well, i HAD a 305.

i also had trouble giving it away.

the solution is simple.... a 350 wont do. you need to make up for your current lack of hp.

some people might reccomend a 383... but i prefer somthing bigger.. id start with a 400... if that doesnt work for ya, you could always go aftermarket and build a 415, 427 or even a 454......

then again, if you're married with 2 kids, you probly cant buy it..... your car would have been better off if you were gay.

There's still lots of stuff you can do with a 305. The hi-po cams from much later generation engines drop in with little or no modification. Alot of stock 350 stuff works as hop-up parts for you.
My advice: get rid of the stock air cleaner assembly. It's the most restrictive single element in the system. Exhaust next, then cam, then heads.
The cadillac 4.1 FWD TBI intake breathes *MUCH* better and holds a bigger element as well. Use the lid and filter from a 2bbl Buick 231. Very easy mods required.
I know one guy who runs high 12s on his street 305 with TBI. Not earth shattering, but respectable.
I am a 305 owner. I am not gay like ol' Mitt, but I've got plenty of friends and family that are.

Thumbs up Re: Similar to the Gov. of New Jersey, I have an annoucment to make.

I also have a 305, Well till I get the 383 going hehe.

my setup for the 305:

rebuilt bottem end all stock, I did it myself my 1st engine rebuild
dubble roller timming chain
crane cams 272 H10- .454 lift 272 dur
Edelbrock performer EGR intake
305 heads that have been modded w/ 1.94 intakes and mild bowl job
Q-jet with a K&N 14X3 open eliment filter

Thats the smog legal setup that I useto run, the cam is the biggest smog legal cam crane has it`s got a nice idle to it I just wish it was thumpyer.

new setup:

No EGR
Holley 750 single pump

HOLLY SH** the Holley just killed the Q in everyway. I love my holley and will never go back to the Q jets,

If you can get a smog legal Holley, they just blow the Q jets away, the power the holleys have is just huge over the Q`s.
