SES light

Ok so today I put on some headers that I got used from a friend. They didnt have EGR provsions so we just took it all off, which i had planned on doing later anyway. Driving home I had made it about .2 of a mile and my SES light came on. I know why, now I want to know how to get it to turn off. Anybody know?

Re: SES light

You'll have to find someone who can re-program your chip so they can turn off the EGR diagnostics. That will rid you of your SES light.

Re: SES light

True, that will work, but if your SES light goes off for something else you wont know cause the light will already be on

Re: SES light

yeah i guess thats what it was. They were these small aluminum tubes that went into the manifolds right behind every exhaust port.

You DO know that when theSES light comes on the ECM goes into limp home mode, right? Your fuel millage is going to take a big dump. You should reprogram, but black electrical tape works good in a pinch.

Thats not true, the computer dosent go into limp home mode unless the ecm fails. Just getting a SES light will not trigger this.

Re: SES light

Your car is in Open loop when you first start it up (cold) once your car warms up it goes into closed loop and the computer starts reading off your O2 sensor to make fuel adjustments. In Open loop its just basicly a set of parameters for the fuel, untill the car warms up.
