serious overheating / already used search

I just replaced the water pump and radiator in my car a few days ago, and lastnight smoke just start rising out from my hood. I lifted the hood, turned it off, and coolant was spraying out of the coolant resavoir, and swelling up. Pressure kept building and building, so i quickly removed the rad cap, and all my coolant went flying 10 feet in the air until it was drained. Anyone know what this could be?

have you changed you thermostat? if your thermo is sticking closed, it'll never allow the coolant to get into the engine, therefore builds tons of pressure and goes out your radiator cap...

Yeah what year car/engine, etc..

Maybe you got a water pump that turns in the wrong direction?

Timing could be WAYYY off.

Thermostat is obvious also. Removing it and testing it in a boiling pan of water can basically solve that.

Goodluck!

Re: serious overheating / already used search

Sorry I haven't been on to reply. I have an 88 RS 305 TBI. Turns out its the head gasket. I don't really wanna pay some jerk to put in a headgasket in an old 220,000 km 305, so im doing a carb'd 350 swap. I've found a rebuilt 350 bored .30 over, also comes with a 350 turbo trans.... Im gonna see if its possible to hook the 350 up to my 5 speed, if not, i'll be going over to the turbo trans.

I'll keep ya's updated.
