sepentine belt sizing

i had 2 questions: 305 stock motor in question

1. i dont have emissions testing until late 2005, in that case i would like to remove the belt from the "smog pump" is there any problem i would run into if i were to do this?? i.e. throwin codes, horrible mileage, etc.

2. What size belt would I use if I remove the a/c and smog pump pulleys from the rotation, NOT removing the units but deleting them from the belt path, A part # or inch spec would be much appreciated.

thanks in advance.

1. The computer will not set any trouble codes, as the A.I.R. injection system is output only, as in the computer only sends commands, and couldn't care less what the system is doing with them, or if its even present. Nothing else will be affected other than emissions output. Catalytic converter damage may occur after some time without the extra air to properly operate, but that doesn't happen in all cases.

Make sure your tensioner is working well because if the spring in it is bad or worn out, you might get the right belt but it might be too loose.

I was wanting to delete both pulleys from the chain (A/C, smog) but my tensioner is braqueted off of my compressor. this poses a slight issue for i need that tensioner. Where did cars w/o A/c get that mounted? would it be rediculous to fab something for the gain of the compressor pulley delete?

BTW tensioner is couple months old. Broke one while installing current belt, for some reason no one saw the breaker bar notch, so a buddy went off the bolt and snapped it, what an idiot!!

Do a search for the AC delete pulley setup, aka 1LE pulley. EBay always has them.

EDIT: They always have them

Couple months old is fine. If it was 6 yrs old, I might change it for the hell of it.
