Rust Showing Up

I was told by my mechanic that installed my Flow Master exhaust that I should pull out the little fasteners holding the rear bumper cover on underneath and sand it down there and paint with a rustoleum paint. It would be hidden by the bumper cover anyway so it does not matter what I use to repaint that part. Has anyone done this? Where can you get the fasteners to replace the ones that break when they get removed? It looks like most 3rd gens cars should be getting this condition. My car stays in a garage and does not come out to play in the snow. Also I'm noticing some rust showing up on the black piece surrounding my rear window hatch. Anyone have success at touching that part up as well?

Re: Rust Showing Up

I had rust on the hatch piece. I just sanded it down primed it and painted it with dupicolor or some other paint that was supposed to match the color of the car. It didn't match but it looks fine, alot better than it did.
