RPMS high in all gears - Idle at 6000RPM?!

Just brought the IROC back out, changed 2 vacuum lines that were real bad, one of the ones going to throttle body was crimped real bad i doubt it was getting good vacuum. My car has been parked for months because i got tired of dealing with all its problems. I brought it out today and it wont idle!! in park it is just revving itself waay too high, redline almost. But while driving- I never felt my engine have such good power, surprised me, because ive had nothing but problems since i bought the car, but never gave up on her. Now Im just wondering why my car is idleing so high. I was searching for vacuum leaks thats how i came across those 2 bad hoses. Not sure what to look at next, im guessing set the IAC right? Any help would be appreciated, ive missed her and just want to drive her without sucking all my gas at the light revving at 5500-6500rpm thats just not right. In other gears it shifts good tho. HELP!!

sounds like a massive vacuum leak, or a bad tach.

Yeah my i noticed my tach has been off for a while, well since my rebuild. Its probably not accurate but my engine was really revving itself waay too much. The following day the car idled and ran beautifuly. Engine has never ran this good while ive owned the car. This got me motivated to do more to it. How can i fix my tach? On the freeway its all the way redline.

are you using an aftermarket ignition? i had tach problems w/ an MSD Super HEI Ignition Module, they sell a capacitor to correct it but I ended up using an Autometer tach instead of the stock one

Could be a blown gasket, most likely the T/B gasket.

Could be another vac hose is bad somewhere...did you ever mess w/ the idle adjustment screw before? IAC could be dirty as well.

Try unplugging the TPS and see if that helps. If it behaves after that the TPS is bad.

there is no way you car is running at 6k, it would sound like its going to blow up.try and find a timng light with a tach or get your tach fixed.i dont think there is a vacume leak bad enough to cause the idle to be that high.i bet its high, but not 6k.dont drive the car or start it anymore untill you have it fixed, youll blow it up if it is running at 6k.id have to say its prob a gunked up throttle body, take the air inlet tube off and make sure its closing all the way, i bet its stuck open a little.like i said, find the problem b4 you drive it anymore!
