Rip A Wheel
Rip A Wheel
Hey guys. i was just wondering..........im not sure which TPI motor is in my IROC but should I Still be able to rip a wheel when i floor it in drive (I have an Auto). I just bought the car and it it seems to be kinda slow. it also idles a little rough.....but i floored it on my street today and it didnt spin the tires.....should it? It has a new cap and rotor and all that along with a new TPS and MAF power relay......if it should be faster than this could you guys give me some advice on what to check.......i already know it has a sticking valve so any suggestions a bout how to unstick it would be a big help also. thanks
dsf
VEry possible that it won't "rip a wheel"...hahaha Sorry man. Mine was the same way when it was totally stock with 3.08 gears. Infact right now it can't with added power, 3.73 gears and Nitto Drag radials. BUT, that's good because it means you're getting good traction basically. Anything resembling tireslip at the track means you're most likely losing time. Congrats on the purchase man!
Anyone know how a valve sticks? Broken springs or bent valves would be the only way I can think of...

I dont see you breaking the wheels loose. But there is always the brakes, then the gas. then tire smoke. f-bodies are pretty balanced. I could get serious wheel in my 88' capprice, but caprices have a light back end.
I dont think my motor is original because the VIN says it is a 305.................................so would having a stuck valve cause my car to feel sluggish or would that be something else??? ive driven a 89 iroc w/ 305 and it feels hella faster than mine. also how would i go about checking to see where the stuck valve is???
The vin says it's a 305...you say it's a 350 but you aren't sure if it's the original motor. How do you know it's a 350? Have you gotten the casting numebrs off the block? Cuz if you're going by information from the guy that sold you the car then that's pretty iffy........
