Rear ends?

What year/options of 4th gen rears fit on 3rd gens? My brother is wanting to swap his disc brake 3.73 rear on his 92 Z for either a 3.42 or 3.23. I'm pretty sure that the ABS is not a problem but am not sure of the TCS. Any help? Thanks,

Kyle

All years 93-02 will work. I have an 02 ABS only rear in my car. Everything bolts right up. The difference between the ABS and TC cars are the brake lines. The ABS only lines will fit right up to the existing line on the 3rd gen. The TC cars used separate lines, so some brake line fabrication will be required. Good news is you already have the correct parking brake cables for the swap.

Fourth gen rears are also 2" wider on each side so proper wheel backspace is needed. Your factory wheels will stick out too much. Most people who swap in a 4th gen rear also get the 4th gen wheels.

There are other differences as well, but won't hinder the install. TC cars have reluctor rings on the axles right behind the axle flange and the backing plates have sensors in them.

ABS only cars will have a reluctor ring attached to the ring gear in the pumpkin as well as have a sensor in the top of the pumpkin.
