Really stupid question

Please forgive me. I am new to solid axle american cars. I just got my 88 IROC and looked up the rpo codes. It says I have a posi rear end. Is there an external way to verify this? There are no stupid questions if you don't know or understand just ask. There are plenty of people on this board with good info.
