okay I'm hearin all of this cam and shafts and valves and pumps and I do to a point know what you guys are talking about but where can I go to fully be explained to what this stuff is on a camaro? I don't wanna read that manual so if there is another way please inform me because I wanna laugh at comments people make too! yeah....
I agree with the above statement to a certain extent. I am in the process of building a motor and man have I learned more than I could have ever imagined. Reading is really one of the other best ways to learn. So you may just have to pick up that manual and do the reading. Or if you have extra money go buy a little motor tear it down and reabuild it to see if it works.
The best way to learn engine construction is just to build one. Go to a junkyard and spend $100 on a 305 that doesn't run. Go to the bookstore and looking for a book titled "Building Smallblock Chevy's" or something similar to that. Read it once, then take your junk motor apart and put it back together, and keep an eye on the book while you do it. You'll be amazed at how much you learn.
