Cool Rate my new motor!

Well i decided to do it, take out the v6 and go with the V8!

Tell me what you think!

Engine:
The engines journey started by immediately pulling the stock V6 out and dropping a fully blueprinted 420 horsepower motor. This 355 Cubic Inch motor has

10:1 Compression

Energizer hydraulic cam shaft

Scorpion roller rockers

$1000 Edelbrock Performance RPM Aluminum Heads

Airgap manifold

Headman Headers

Holley 670 Street Avenger Carb.

MSD Billet Distributor

Blaster II Coil

MSD 6AL Ignition Module

MSD Spark Plug Wires

120 Amp Chrome Alternator

Chrome engine brackets, etc.

K&N Oval filer

Electric Fan Setup
Motor has less than 50 miles on it, never raced yet, its barely broken in!

The engine is complemented by a Turbo 350 transmission with a TCI High Stall Torque converter..

And give me a few ideas on braking her in, in case this helps a little bit more from my other posts.

what kind of rings do you have? that will tell me how you need to break it in. if you have just plain jane cast rings like stock or even moly coated rings all you need to do is this:

get on the highway or long stretch of road preferably at night or a non busy time of day. in high gear, easily accelerate from about 40mph up to 60mph and let off the gas so it coasts back down to 40ish. repeat 3-5 times to load and unload the rings and this will seat them in rather nice and they will be good to go. the bearings and cam are broke in durring the first 20 minutes of run time while breaking in the cam (at no less than 2000rpm i am hoping!!)

if you have those expensive, hard chrome rings you'll need 500-600 miles of easy driving to seat them in well.

follow those procedures and you will be fine. it's how i have broke my motors in and after doing that i go right to the drag strip with no problems.

oh....one more thing......change your oil after you do this. it's always a good idea to change the oil several times durring the first 1500-2000 miles or so on a fresh engine.
