i live in illinois and have the emissions testing. i was wondering if anybody has used the race car exemption and what did they have to do to get it. also do you drive the car everyday and can you still keep the insurance on the car. do you still get license plates and stickers too?

Sounds like a rumor to me. I really doubt they let you classify your car as a "race car" and drive it around all day. There are some many reasons that cannot be true.

 

They probably put a in a provision that states the car cannot be driven on public highways and cannot be insured as a normal vehicle. Good luck if you get caught.

 

my aunt has a race mgb that is a street legal race car, she lives in florida. and the mgb is fast. dont know about the details though. its definatly not a daily driver. but who would know if she drove it every day i guess...

 

Any cop who pulled her over for speeding.
