Race with '87 Iroc-Z

So I am gonna be racing my buddy in his 1987 Iroc-Z Camaro with 350 auto. All he has done is a Flowmaster Muffler.
I have a 1990 Mustang GT with BBK Headers, Mac x-pipe, Magnaflow Catback, 3.55 gears, under drive pulleys and a cold air with K&N. I run a 14.6 in Calgary Canada (elevation is 3200-3500ft.). How do you guys figure I will fair?
I am pretty sure Im gonna smoke him but I am just lookin for opinions.
Thanks

And what elevation is that at?
I could say my car runs mid 13's......at sea level.

I take it your Stang is a 5 speed, right?

Honestly with your mods, I'd assume that you will beat him...given you are a good driver. I'd say his car is good for mid to high 14's given a good launch (near sea level).

A Flowmaster muffler alone isn't gonna add much power, maybe 5 horse tops...it's mostly for sound preference. If he had a full catback then it would be a different story.

I wouldnt think a catback would make that much difference. unless he got an h or x pipe with headers??

lol What a funny thing. Total stock 87 Irocz runs anywhere from 15.0 to 14.86 stock from the factory.
The best I have ran my car is 14.66 at sea level with a few minor mods.

Oops, totally disregarded that the car was a 1987. I was comparing to my 91 that ran a 14.4 stock.

Well a catback wouldn't make a major difference. But it's alot better than just having a aftermarket muffler.

These Camaro's exhausts are pretty restricted, so when he starts doin free mods, headers, etc... I think he'll definitely catch up to you.

This car has the L98 engine right? If I remember right I read that it was a vette(of the time) engine with smaller exhaust, is that right?
Nice cars though, except only being able to get auto sucks. I wish my 3 years newer Stang came with 4 wheel disc.
How much do the Irocs weigh? My GT is 3432 lbs. with gas and me in it, I was under the impression that Camaros were heavier.

Thirdgens weigh around 3400 lbs. with no driver, depending on accessories.

Depends on a LOT of things.. my car is the 305 TPI, 2.73 gears with a flowmaster cat back only and it runs low 15's around 89-90mph. 173rwhp and 243rw tq.. not very impressive. The L98 should be more like 195-200rwhp and 275-290rw tq with a good exhaust and kept in good shape. That was at 150,000 miles last year. I just say.. who cares.. just run them and have fun.. either car can win, and it could be do to the car or the driver.

my L98 dynoed at 214/312 rwhp and tq with only a cutout....... BONE STOCK. Single cat version. I ran a best of 14.3 with minor weight reduction and street H rated meat. At sea level. 87 irocs got a mandatory 3.27 rear if equiped with the 350. Not a bad gear ratio for that motor. I would think that it would be in your favor given your mods. But you never know. I have seen stock L98's bust 13's when tuned to the teeth!

87 350 were rated at 220 HP. You should be able to take him with your mods. You should be able to walk him as long as you don't go up in smoke. If you want to run another 87 look me up.
