Post Question for anyone with an aftermarket shifter ( Auto )

How did you adapt the factory neutral safety switch wires to the aftermarket switch . The factory neutral safety/backup lights switch has 6 wires coming out ...big brown , big yellow , small green , small brown , small orange/blk. , small black/wht. . With the B&M neutral safety I can only use 2 of those wires . Kinda confused here . This is in a 95 , but the neutral safety looks the same as in my 90 Iroc .

Thanks if anyone can help

What shifter do you have? I used to have a B&M and when I installed it, I had wiring diagrams for a Neutral Safety and Reverse lights. Only problem was that I could shift the shifter without the key.

Anyway, I got rid of it and went back to stock. I just had the tranny fixed so it would shift at the RPM I wanted.

I can't see which 2 wires it is on my B&M because it's under the carpet too far(Even wth the top plate off). Just remember to use some pretty big wire. My friend Joe figured it out for me with a test light if I remember correctly. We also got rid of that locking cable that doesn't let the car shift unless the key is turned on.

I didn't wire the backup lights but i should sometime..hmm...Goodluck

Only 4 of those wires are used. 2 are used for neutral saftey. 2 are used for reverse lights. The other 2 are used for the hatch release. You can only hit the hatch release when the shifter is in Park or Neutral.

I believe big brown and big yellow are neutral safety. My book with the wiring diagrams is at work.

I actually looked at the wiring while sitting in the staging lanes today. My neutral start wires are large yellow and large purple.
