Question about bracket Installing headers

On an 87 TPI, I'm in the process of taking off the drivers side manifold. The front bolt has a bracket on it that kinda bends round, and goes down to the Power Steering pump? How do i take the bolt out without having to remove this bracket or even the pump? Any suggestions?

No, I already have those off. This is a bracket that the front bolt goes through and makes it so in order to remove the bolt the bracket needs to moved. I have all the rest of the manifold bolts out so its the only one holding it up. I just can't fgiure how to remove that first bolt without cutting the bracket or removing a ton of stuff i don't want to get into.

congratulations, you get to take off a hole bunch of crap, it's the braket that connects the power steering and AC/alternator, there actually is a bolt that holds in the PS pump that goes through the back of the bracket, if you take that off it should be easier, I'm going off of memory though, if you wait till sunday, I'll be able to tel you for sure.

Yea, that was the AC braket on my 86 I would think it would be the same. Your not going to be able to put your AC compressor back on unless you modify that braket.

I had no problem without modifying it with edelbrock ehaders, and when I put SLP headers on I took the AC out, so it depends what headers you are running.

WHOAAAA!! STOP!!!

You DON"T have to remove a lot of crap to get that brace off. Loosen the bolt holding that brace on the back of the power steering pump with a 15mm socket and that brace will come right out. It's just slotted and will pull right out. If you are installing SLPs, you will have to grind just a bit off of it to get it to fit back on 'cause interferes with the #1 header tube.
