question?

im getting a 350 with he said an 'rv' cam

if i had the heads shaved would it boost compression and horsepower

and if so

how much should i get shaved

and also

should i get slp studs or would regular head bolts be fine

what are your plans for this motor? 40% race, 60% street or what? thats the first ques. and are you running a TPI intake, carb or TBI? an RV cam is designed with lots of torque to move it. once you figure out what your going to do with hte motor start planning your cam.

im doing 98% street with some weekend racing but this is a daily driver

i do have tpi

im just lookin to add a little more hp with a little less cash and since it already has the cam in it thats one thing i dont need

Regular head bolts will serve just fine for 99.9% of daily-driver applications. If you decide to upgrade, consider an ARP bolt kit. Search this forum for information regarding an appropriate head bolt sealer. You'll get more information than you can ever use.

Good luck,

a mild cam will do ALOT for a TPI. a comp 08-300-8 is what we put in my friends 88 GTA L98 car and its quite obnoxious. we put hooker 2055's, magnaflow hi flow cat and edelbrock cat back system. other than that and the cam its all stock.
