!! Pulley Setup !!

I have a 1991 z28, stock 350. Doing a rebuild and I'm deleting the air and smog/emmission's. I was wondering if I cold run just the four pulleys. Alt, Water pump, crank shaft, and power steering, and totally eliminate the air compressor and smog bracket??? What size belt would I need? Any info would be wonderful?

I'm running an A/C delete pulley and no smog pulley with I believe a 96.x" belt. I don't remember the part number though.

Re: !! Pulley Setup !!

I just nabbed the ultimate setup that you need. March's Mid Mount Serpentine setup. It's for Alt/Waterpump/P-Steering only. Mounts the Alternator on the pass. side right next to the water pump and the P-Steering pump stays mid mounted on the driver side. It requires a normal rotation Water pump, not the reverse style that our cars normally use. It uses 2 belts, 1 for the Crank/Alt/Water and the other is crank/p-steering.

For Track purposes only, I can see running a shorter belt to bypass the water pump and installing a Moroso Electric Water Pump Drive Kit with it's 2 small cog pulleys and belt and that'a free horsepower whenever you need it, then swap back to mechanically turning the pump for street use.

Not only does this setup look nice and clean things up a little but it also allows me to run a big boxy set of aluminum fabbed valvecovers that I bought a while back.

Re: !! Pulley Setup !!

I'm running stock serp. brackets and parts with no A/C and no smog pump. No A/C delete pulley either, for that matter. All it takes is a 2.5" ribbed tensioner pulley, a shorter belt, and 10 minutes with a file (or 90 seconds with a die grinder.)

Take the pulley off the tensioner arm. There's a small ridge around the outside edge of where the pulley mounts...grind it off. Then bolt the ribbed pulley on and run the belt like this, counterclockwise from the crank:

Crank-over the Water Pump-Power Steering-Alternator-Tensioner-back to the Crank

I can't remember the part number for the pulley, or the belt length, but I think I have them written down at the shop. I'll check in the morning if noone else knows.
